Christianity is not a religion and there is no requirement of having to do anything to earn your salvation as there are with all other religions. Christ said we are saved by grace and our belief changes the life we live to be more like Him. Much the same as when you fall in love with a person. You do your best to please them because you love them not because you have to to earn their love. If that was the case then there is no love and you need counciling.

In Islam and Judaism, there is only one form of God. In Christianity, there is still one God but in three forms, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Hinduism, there are countless Gods, with varying levels of power. In Buddhism, there really is no God as everyone becomes a God by following it’s ideals and perfecting themselves.

Huge diffrence…
Islam chistianity Judiasm are all Abraham religions
Hinduism and Buddhism polytheistic.
All religions believe in ONE supreme god.
Religious belief usually relates to the existence, nature and worship of a deity or deities and divine involvement in the universe and human life. Alternately, it may also relate to values and practices transmitted by a spiritual leader. Unlike other belief systems, which may be passed on orally, religious belief tends to be codified in literate societies (religion in non-literate societies is still largely passed on orally[10]). In some religions, like the Abrahamic religions, it is held that most of the core beliefs have been divinely revealed.

Buddhism can’t be compared to the Abrahamic religions, that’s like comparing apples to baseball bats. In Buddhism there isn’t a god, and different sects have different beliefs… so rebirth to one group might mean being reborn after death, whereas with someone else it might mean being reborn from moment to moment in this life, or perhaps mean becoming enlightened… I mean who knows, you can believe anything you want in Buddhism, it’s a philosophy and only is a religion on case by case basis (for those who believe in supernatural things).

Islam– recognizes the prophet jesus and mohamed as well as the bible and the woman in the bible, belief in one god
Christianity– many sects such as catholics, protestant, luthern etc, only belives in jesus as the only prophet, the son of god, follows the bible,
Judiasm- jesus has not risen only follows the old testament
Hinduism- belief in many gods
Buddism- lead by buddah connections to nature

And Hinduism and Buddism is a WHOLE nother story. They have multiple gods instead of just one and a lot of there theories are based on peace (such as meditation) but I don’t know much more than that about those two.

Christianity-believes both old and new testaments. and that Jesus was the son of God
hinduism-its an old religion practiced in many places that have a demanding upper class, such as india. this is because the upper class wanted to stay in power and keep the ones below them to stay below them. so they invented the caste system with reincarnation
buddism-was not supposed to be a religion (as was christianity) buddha (like jesus) only wanted to reform a religion. buddha wanted to reform hinduism, and jesus wanted to reform buddism.

Islam = Muhammed was the last great prophet from the Judeo-Christian background
Christianity = Jesus Christ was the messiah who God sent to save humankind from its sins
Judaism = The messiah has not come yet, they are still waiting for God to send him
Hinduism = God is one, but people call Him by many different names
Buddhism = The goal in life is to reach full enlightenment, beyond the human suffering state and become one with the world and everything in it (nirvana).
I think of it like this example. There are several ways to reach New York City. They are all different ways, sometimes, people use part of the same route to reach there, or even different transportation, however, all of those ways end up reaching New York City.
So, I believe all religions are right (with no religion being wrong or bad), but they’re just different paths to the ultimate goal: God. It might take some people a long time to get there, others might be a step or two away, but ultimately, God is at the end of all paths of religion.

All are different ways to try to understand the divine, the eternal. All our understandings are partial. We have no way of knowing what, if any, of these is the ‘right’ way - probably none. All we can do is do our best, act according to our own lights.
These five you have named are totally different approaches to the world. It’s impossible to quickly tell you the main differences. That’s like asking for the main differences between food, sleep, mountains, crochet and handbags. All I can do is give you some pithy key things, from my perspective. Both Islam and Christianity are convinced they are right and everyone else is wrong. Christianity has a sense that all can be ’saved’, i.e. go to heaven after death, through belief in a man who was also God and died a horrible death from which he came back to life. The others don’t see it that way. Buddhism doesn’t have a theology but an approach to enlightenment i.e. meditation and various understandings of the best way to live. Hinduism approaches the divine through different manifestations portrayed as gods and goddesses. Judaism has an intensely abstract conception of the one God and focusses on action in the world as a way of bringing the divine closer.

This is really difficult question to answer. First you need to define whether you want to compare the religions based on the principles they were founded or the way they have been interpreted by the followers in the past and present. It’s hard to know the founding principles for religions which existed beyond known/documented human past, like Hinduism.
This question I think is going to provoke heated arguments which would be really unfortunate. Religion is just a tool to guide through life. Let’s not let it define us. Tool can be worn out by years of use; so can be a religion. And like any tool no religion is perfect. You just make use of whatever you have in best possible ways.

christianity and islam teach exclusivity. they are the only two religions i’m aware of that teach that all other beliefs are wrong. they also both emerged from judaism, which respects the beliefs of others.
buddhism branched off of hinduism. it rejects a lot of the broader teachings of hinduism, but its core beliefs are the same. they both believe that the goal of each individual is to attain unity with the universal life force thru enlightenment, tho their views of this ultimate being vary. they both also believe that all religions are valid paths to approach enlightenment.
hinduism is the oldest religion on earth, and it is the source of every other major world religion. the teachings of the veda are found in everything from taoism to christianity to northern european paganism. its themes are even found in indigenous american religions. the northern indians who composed the veda migrated thru-out the world, carrying their language and beliefs with them.
my point is, we’re all hindu and hindus say nobody’s wrong [except the people who say everybody else is wrong].
another edit to graham h: gautama siddharta was indeed a prince who rejected his wealth [and wife], but you leave the impression that he created something new. what he did, essentially, was distill hinduism down to its most basic concepts. which doesn’t sit well with many hindus, since they believe there is a very distinct purpose to the things the buddha rejected.

Hinduism and Buddism don’t have direct revealations from God and doesn’t claim of it, and have too many gods or no god at all, and their religion is often flexible or changable by man at times, so it becomes a creation of man and is far from being the truth.
On the other hand, the other three religions had revealations through their prophets directly from God. Islam, Christianity, and Judiasm all claims to worship only One God, and believes in all the prophets that came before jesus.
The difference is, Christianity and Islam accepts the fact that Jesus came, while Judaism doesn’t.
At the same time, Christianity calls Jesus the son of God or God himself, while Islam takes him as a prophet.
Islam takes Muhammad as a prophet which Christians deny.
Since they all claim to worship One God, but more or less they all associate partners in worship, giving their reasons, such as the trinity concept, or some Muslims asking Muhammad for intercession etc. The only different one that sticks out is the one who takes all the prophets as prophets, and therefore don’t ascribe them as partners with God Himself. i.e. they ask God the Creator directly, and not through a saint, or prophet, or son of God etc. So, I pick out Islam (that is free from being a sect) as unique and different from the wrong ways. that’s in short …

Proper interpretation of God’s Word. The God Yahweh’s Word that is. All three religions that evolved from the teachings of Yahweh have made some major mistakes in their interpretation of their own scripture that lead to their division from each other. All other religions that did not evolve from Yahweh’s teachings are false religions. Modern science will soon prove this to be a fact through mistranslated scripture in the first five books of The Bible.

Islam worships Allah, whom neither Christians or Jews worship. Allah is of the Koran, God is of the Bible and both Christian and Jews worship HIm.
Now to your question - what and why is a certain religion the right one?
There was only one individual who could take away sins and that was Jesus the founder of Christianity. All other religions were invented by man. Jesus, the Word of God was the founder of Christianity. You can believe all the other religions, but you will still die in your sins.

Judaism is the religion of the Jews that has its basis in the Bible and the Talmud. In Judaism, God is the creator of everything and the source of all goodness. Christianity is the religion that follows Jesus Christ’s teachings, and is based on the life, teachings, and example of Jesus Christ. Islam is the religion of Muslims, based upon the teachings of Muhammad during the 7th century and now the second largest of the great religions in number of believers. Hinduism is the religion of India and the oldest of the worldwide religions, characterized by a belief in reincarnation and the essential unity of forms and theories. Hinduism has a large pantheon of gods and goddesses, and traditionally had a caste system. Buddhism is an eastern religion or philosophy based on the teaching of the Buddha and holding that a state of enlightenment can be attained by suppressing worldly desires.
